The second is a non-residue VOID label. Here the facestock is engineered to split into two layers when peeled: the top layer comes away, while a bonded under-layer stays on the surface and reveals the VOID text or pattern printed between them. The surface underneath is left clean, with the tamper evidence showing entirely on the label material rather than on the product — a better fit for surfaces or finishes that must not be marked or left with adhesive residue.

What does a VOID label do when removed?

A VOID label is engineered so that lifting or peeling it reveals a message — usually "VOID," though a custom word or pattern can be used instead — either left behind on the surface underneath, left on the back of the label itself, or split across both. The message only appears once the label has been disturbed, so an intact label with no VOID pattern showing is a clear sign it has never been removed, while a visible VOID message is a clear sign it has.
