Getting the Size Right
Small vials leave almost no room for error — here is how sizing and measurement work.
A label that is even a millimeter off on a 3ml vial will show a visible gap or overlap, because the entire wrap surface is so small. Unlike a bottle or jar where a slight sizing error disappears into the curve, small vials expose every inch of the label at a glance. That is why getting the dimensions right before artwork goes to print matters more here than almost any other label format we produce.
The two numbers that define a vial label are wrap width and label height. Wrap width is the distance around the vial at its widest point — measure it by wrapping a strip of paper or a flexible tape measure around the glass and marking where it meets. Label height is the usable straight-wall section of the vial, measured from just below the neck taper to just above the base curve, minus a small margin so the label does not creep onto the curved glass at either end.
As a general reference, a 3ml vial commonly takes a label in the range of 40×60mm, a 5ml vial around 50×70mm, and a 10ml vial around 60×80mm. These figures vary by glass manufacturer and vial shape, so they are a starting point for planning artwork, not a fixed spec. If you send us your vial’s exact diameter and wall height — or simply mail us a sample vial — we will confirm the precise label dimensions before we cut any material.
Small-format printing also requires tighter production tolerances than a standard label. Fine text, lot codes, and barcodes need to stay legible at a reduced scale, which means our print equipment is calibrated for sharp registration and clean edges even at these compact sizes. For full-wrap designs, we build in a small overlap seam so the printed pattern lines up correctly once the label is applied around the full circumference, rather than leaving a visible mismatch where the ends meet.
Bleed and wrap allowance are handled on our end during proofing. If your artwork includes a background color, pattern, or edge-to-edge graphic, we extend it slightly beyond the trim line so there is no thin white sliver at the seam or top/bottom edge after the label is applied and trimmed. You do not need to build this allowance into your file — our design team accounts for it when we prepare your proof.
Whether you need a single small run for a 3ml sample vial or a bulk order across 3ml, 5ml, and 10ml sizes in one product line, we size, print, and proof every dimension before production, so the label you approve is the exact label you receive.
Size Reference Guide
Typical label dimensions by vial size — confirm your exact measurements with our team before ordering.
| Vial Size | Typical Label Size |
|---|---|
| 3ml vial | ~40×60mm |
| 5ml vial | ~50×70mm |
| 10ml vial | ~60×80mm |
Ranges shown are typical starting points and vary by glass manufacturer and vial shape. Custom vial sizes and dimensions are also supported.
Built for Small-Format Precision
What sets a properly sized vial label apart from a generic sticker.
Precise Small-Format Print
Fine text, lot codes and barcodes are printed with tight registration so they stay sharp and scannable even scaled down to a 40×60mm label.
Clean Full-Wrap Seams
Full-wrap artwork is built with a proper overlap allowance so patterns and backgrounds line up around the vial without a visible mismatch.
Waterproof, High-Tack Hold
Waterproof vinyl, PP or PET film paired with a high-tack adhesive keeps the label bonded to small curved glass through moisture, oils and handling.
Confirmed Before Production
Every dimension is confirmed on a free digital proof against your measurements or sample vial before a single label is printed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Answers about sizing, materials and ordering our vial labels.
What label size fits a 3ml / 5ml / 10ml vial?
It depends on the vial’s diameter and wrap height, but as a starting reference: a 3ml vial typically takes a label around 40×60mm, a 5ml vial around 50×70mm, and a 10ml vial around 60×80mm. These are common starting points — send us your exact vial dimensions and we will confirm the precise size for your order.
How do I measure my vial for a label?
Measure the circumference (wrap the vial with a strip of paper or a tape measure around its widest point) for the label width, and measure the usable straight-wall height for the label height. Send us both numbers, or the vial itself as a sample, and we will size the artwork to fit with the correct bleed and wrap allowance.
What's the minimum order quantity?
You can start from 100 pcs per design. Unit price drops significantly at 500 pcs and again at 1,000+ pcs, so tell us your quantity range and we will quote the options side by side.
Can you do full-wrap and clear labels?
Yes. We produce full-wrap labels that cover the entire vial circumference, partial front labels, and clear/transparent film for a label-over-glass look. Full-wrap artwork is set up with a small overlap seam so the design lines up cleanly around the vial.
Are the labels waterproof and oil-resistant?
We use waterproof vinyl, PP or PET film with a high-tack adhesive that resists moisture, oils and gloved handling, so the label stays flat and legible on small curved glass. Tell us about freezer or alcohol exposure and we will match the material and confirm it on the sample.
What's the lead time?
Sample turnaround is 5–7 business days, and bulk production runs 7–14 business days after your design proof is approved.
What to Send for a Vial Label Quote
The details you provide up front let us quote accurately and prepare the right proof.
Vial size and dimensions
Tell us whether you use 3ml, 5ml or 10ml vials, and provide the label area measurements. A photo or drawing helps us understand the container shape.
Label size and artwork
Share the required width and height, your artwork file and the number of designs.
Quantity per design
List the quantity for each design separately so we can prepare the quote against your requirements.
Application and storage
Describe how the labels will be applied and the conditions they will face. Confirm material suitability with a sample on your actual container before approving production.
Supply format
Specify rolls, sheets or single die-cut stickers. If using a labelling machine, include its roll and winding requirements for review.
Delivery requirements
Provide the destination and your required delivery date so the team can review the schedule.
A digital proof is free. Physical samples and shipping are quoted for your project. Please approve the proof before production begins.
